Photographer's Note

A poignant memorial in a quiet corner of Hiroshima Peace Park. The city was the first ever targetted by an atomic bomb, on August 6, 1945. An estimated 140,000 died from the 2000 degree celsius temperatures, & radiation sickness.

The script is in Japanese, & it may not be intelligibnle to most, but the sentiments are loud & clear.

I also liked the venetian blind effect of the fg vertical poles, vaguely concealing the 2 shrines in the mid distance, and the sombre black on grey Christian Cross far right, marking yet another memorial in this park.
