Japanese schoolboys trying their luck with the love stone. The idea is to close your eyes & walk from one rock in the bg, to the lucky rock in the fg. If you miss it, your love life is in ruins.
"Jishu-jinja, the love-themed shrine selling countless charms to help you snag the one you love, and featuring two "love stones" positioned around 18m apart which the lovelorn must walk between with eyes closed to confirm their loved one's affection"

MAybe it needs a little more sharpness in my opinion.
Anyway, it's lovely daily-life picture!

Maybe as well if they miss, they can always come back in 10 years or so!
Nicely framed slice of life in bright colours, pleasant!

I can see how tough it is in this harsh light!...
But how do you manage to bring out the essential details?...
That too in scan?!!
Coming back to the shot, it is a fantastci framing with the stone at the bottom right, grabing the attention inspite of the colourful Boys!...

Hi Chris. I was at Kiyomizu-dera too, for an early-morning shoot with Jean-Yves (PixelTerror), and I remember this area with the "love stone". Nice photo of the kid who seems a bit young to do the exercise according to its purpose, but still affords a fun photo subject and a nice scene. Nice bright colors, too, considering the not-so-favorable lighting.
