Photographer’s Note
This chap was crashed out at 3pm in Nihonbashi district on a Saturday afternoon. I posted an image yesterday that had a comment on the social "need" for department stores. That picture (which was horribly blurred) was taken just a few metres from here. It wasn't a cold day, but he was in full battledress, and note the cardboard underneath him. It is kind of interesting to see most Japanese homeless observe some very traditional customs. Sitting directly on the ground seems to be taboo here, kind of dirty.

Hi Christopher,
Black and white works very well for this shot.
Even Japan's homeless aren't without pride.
Interesting photo. Thanks for sharing.

oh yeah!!!! that's it!Peace in his face. Pride as well. Pride is not only in his way of sleeping in the street on cardboard, but most of all in its attitude. He has it in his face even when he is dreaming and you christopher, showed that to us with this very beautiful picture.
I like the crop as a complete close up on his body was not necessary...It gives us a hint of his environment. Very cool!
Have a nice day!
Marc
