Photographer’s Note
Lonely passenger in a lonely station.
This pic was taken in Urasa town, Niigata prefecture (about 200km North of Tokyo). Amazingly, the station was, except for that girl and me (another lonely passenger), totally empty that morning. Right here, during the winter time the trains sometimes couldn't move 'cause of heavy snow. I didn't know how long she had to wait for her train as after having taken this photo, I got on another one, leaving the wonder behind.......????

I think this is a wonderful photo...really amazing with the amount of snow they receive in this area of Japan. But, there is also a certain wonder to this scene, too, because although it's also interesting with the lone passenger and all the lines and tressel work overhead, I can also imagine it in the spring, too. It has to be quite beautiful, because I can see the trees and mountains in the distance. I think it would be really interesting to come back and take another shot from the same place in the summer to see the contrast. Very nice!

Hi Tan!
Welcome to TrekEarth!
Amazing picture. Black and white well reflects the atmosphere of this quasi "phantom" station. The presence of this unique passenger waiting for a train that obviously cannot come gives something stranger to this photo.
Good job!

Terrific shot. It's quite other-worldly. Hard to believe there's going to be a train for quite a while, with the tracks covered in so much snow. The light on the snow in some places looks like there might be some sun around. Well done, Tan.

I hate winter.
I love your picture tremendously.
In my humble opinion - one of the best winter images I've ever seen. I'm just about to like winter time back again !!
Welcome to TE.
Good luck with your passion for photography.

Tan,
A superb winter shot. It really does convey a sense of cold and harshnes and also loneliness. Great image

Great photo,
The hard lines and soft snow make a good combination and the lonely figure adds interest.
I'm also impressed that the trains could run in this - in the UK a small amount of snow brings cancellations and chaos!
Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
Cheers
Brian

Beautiful image.
Black and White has been used to excellent affect here, giving the perfect range of colours to the subject matter.
The lone woman on the frozen platform adds a nice little touch of personality. It gives the image a story - Who is she? Where did she come from? Where is she heading?
Good composition, and well framed.
I can't find a major fault with this image.
Thank you for sharing. :)

Hi Tan, wonderfully captured, the true essence of the incredibly heavy snowfalls that target northeastern Japan. The accumulated snow on the railings and wires reminds me of a wintery version of a tomato greenhouse or grape vines.
