Today is officially the first day of spring, so a simple temple-sakura shot for that occasion. I don't remember exactly the name of this structure, it is reached by cable car from Shimoda, nice place for a stroll though nothing spectacular. Another view in WS. Shimoda is near the tip of Izu peninsula, near Tokyo, with Mediterranean style seaside resorts on the west side, and a more unspoilt east coast with nice views of Fuji on a rare clear day. Some info from Japan national tourist office (JNTO) website:
Shimoda is situated in the southeastern part of the Izu-hanto Peninsula and is the core of Minami Izu. It is known as the city of the port that the American Fleet called Kurofune, the Black Ship, entered in the 19th century. They demanded trade with Japan, which at that time was under a national isolation policy that cut off any and all exchange with foreign countries. In the city is Ryosen-ji Temple, at which the then US Naval Officer Perry and Daigaku Hayashi, ambassador plenipotentiary, concluded the Japan-US Friendship Treaty, and a sketch of the signing ceremony remains at the Temple.

I quite can not remember that a winter was so long ... I'm bored about it. Finally the spring is there ... on your beautiful image ... and I hope reality will follow you.

It is really spring view. I like the colours of the tree-flowers and of the other parts of the picture. You say spring... hmm, I`m just back from a short (only 5,5 km) run on my skis :).
Have a nice spring.

This one looks dedicated to me as it is ptobably the past photo of yours I'll see before departing for Japan, there's a lovely spring feeling in that view, I like how the blossoms combine wonderfully with the attractive temple architecture, all under superb light, hope to see such views too soon although the current weather forecast advertises rain :-(
Have a nice day,

Great shot for the first day of spring! The blossoms on the tree make it obvious what time of year it is, and the sun on the building really shows off the colours well too. Well done!

A very beautiful shot here with lovely colours. The light on the tree is particularly nice as it gives good hues and shadows. The pagoda is nicely lit too. good work.

Hi Tan. If it's the first day of spring why is it snowing outside my window right now, lol?? Cherry blossoms are always a great way to start spring. I love that composition. Good job Tan.

Pleasure to see this photo. Really relaxing.
I went to Japan arround January last year, and the cherry hadn't come out which was the most pity for me.
Sharp and neat shot, congratulations! The shadow of the cherry is also a noticeable detail.
Thank you so much for sharing and regards,

What an appropriate and attractive scene to see in the spring. I expect we'll see much more sakura on TE once the hordes of TE members return from JP next month ;-) This is such a beautiful and quintessentially Japanese view, and the colours and sharpness are stunning. Great work, as ever!
