This is the opposite of the type of photos I take, I chose this one today because I wanted to do something totally different for my 200th photo and the last one for 2005. I know this photo will not get much attention but anyway here it is. An old woman feeding the pigeons and a completely disinterested boy. No post processing besides sharpness and contrast addition.
Nagano hosted the 1998 winter olympics, but it is a normal city, the ski resorts are outside the city, not that it has anything relevant to do with the subject of this photo. Taken in 2000 at the beginning of my first round-the-world trip, and my first visit to Asia.

Congratulations on your 200th shot. A lovely natural shot of people doing their own thing. Not your best technically but again in the spirit of TE.
Looking forward to your next 200 postings

after 23 hours being awake (I've been working yesterday and today also...) still got the force to write a little word... Congratulations with your 200th picture, in a few weeks I can celebrate this too.

Hi Tan. Congrats on #200. This is indeed different for you but you show very good range with your abilities. You should try more of these. Well bring on the next 200 and Happy New Year!

Japan is special for me nad walking around shrines and temples is always one of the highlights. Still remember these bunches of wishes on pieces of wood hanging in the background.
So let it be my "thank you" and my New Year wishes hanging around the world somewhere too...

Congratulations on your 200th post! Hope you'll be posting another 200 photos in the next months so that I can continue to travel around the world just sitting at my PC! :-)
I like your picture because this is a scene that you can see almost anywhere around the sorld: elderly people feeding pigeons from plastic bags that they carry around and little children amyzed to be suddenly surrounded by so many unfrightened birds.
I take this opportunity to wish you a wonderful new year, full of travels and beautiful pictures!

A good daily life shot from Japan. I like the patches of snow which reinforce how cold it is. The heavy overcoats are another clue. Well done!

Evet senin tarzın değil Tan. Ama insan manzaraları bence bir başka oluyor. Diğerleri sabit ama bu ise hareketli.
Çok güzel bir kompozisyon ve duygusal da..:))
Harika olmuş. ellerine sağlık...

Happy New Year and congrats on your 200th posting. Its a great dialy life shot and I like how although the mother's coat blends well with the pigeons and pavement, the child's clothing is brightly contrasting. There is also some humour here, as the child inexplicably has no interest in the birds. Well captured.

tu as raison, il faut de temps en temps faire des choses différentes, scéne de la vie au japon, au vue des joues rouges du bambin il devait faire froid.
félicitations pour ta 200ém
a bientot pour la 3000ém

First ... congrats about completing two centurries over here.
now this looks like a good photo opportunity to me ... but I would have liked to see this photo from a lower POV ... but than you should keep in mind that I don't do much of this kind of photography either ... so I really don't have much clue about what I am saying here
tfs ... regards ... sarju
PS: interesting title

Original and intersting shot. I like the angle shot and momento.
