This is about a street on a holiday.
Nothing particular but just ordinary daily street scene. Why monochrome shot? Because the colours weren't so beautiful.

Nobuyoshi Araki has published a book called "subway love". He had been photographying the underground in Tokyo for ten years(?), he says he was pulled to the police station many times, and there he was asked why he had to take shots of people at underground while nothing particular has happened yet. It was understandable for the police men if he photographed people when a fire or an accident or a murder took place. But why photograph ordinary scene as if he was a voyeur? Then his answer was "cuz it was interesting."

Later he confessed that a camera for him is not for capturing something special moment or something beautiful but for capturing "life". I guess I am in the same pot with him..

Nasi Goreng was so nice this evening!

Ok, what we have here is several things:
1. Excellent B/W tones
2. A pleasant, representative scene.
What we don't have though, is more of a "story", by that I mean a SPECIAL subject you want us to focus on. This like a super background for the SCENE that is yet to take place. You have set the stage, then, in walks some outrageous fat kid (I don't know...something).
But...and this is maybe the most interesting conclusion I've come to - I believe your true medium is Black & White, Lauryn. You have a natural feel for it, and that is a rare thing. I am the opposite - I am a crazy colorist, struggling to keep them under control (like wild hairs, he he). But you have real talent in monochrome. I bet Simon and others will agree with me.
Anyway, out of little mints right now. Later...
Take care,
-F
ps I appreciate your note on Araki, but he's a weird guy, Zig, you know what I mean (hen na hito desho)? Be careful, saying: Araki says it's ok if nothing happens. There's nothing...and then there's NOTHING. There is a difference!

osu kannon, near the big cat side, i like the people here, well formed, alittle sharper wont hurt

Hi Lauryn,

thanx for the nice words. This is sort of the same thing as my photo. Both have no drama and capture no decisive moment, but I think both present the every day mood of a regular place.
