Photographer’s Note
This is a sukemono shop in the Komagawa Shotengai (Shopping arcade) in Higashi Sumiyoshi ward. Sukemono is pickled vegetables, mainly cabbages and raddishes, but anything will do. Unfortunately I only had BW film on me at the time. The colours of the pickled vegetables are really vivid! I like the people in the background.

I agree we lose the vivid colors with black and white. But at the same time, we find a kind of uncertain in the time this shot has been made, a sensation we feel frequently in Japan, where old (not only traditional, but used, re-used and extra used) is everywhere. I mean, this photo could have been taken in the early 60's with no difference (see the pictures of Sigint in Aomori in the early 60's, absolutly great shots). So, no regrets ! I like it like that ! And, as said in another post, Digital is far from the "taste" of the traditional film.
