This is a shot that puts together both the mountain and the people who were named after it. The small town of Iwaki sits at the foot of Iwaki mountain in Aomori prefecture. Each year the mountain gets metres and metres of snow, and the town gets a fair few metres as well. For somewhere that sits at sea level, Northern Japan gets so much snow it's unbelievable. In Iwaki this year there was about two metres of accumulated snow at one point. The snow banks were way above my head in certain areas.
This shot was quickly taken and the only post process was size reduction.
