Five Storied Pagoda
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Five Storied Pagoda is located on the grounds of Sensoji Temple in Asakusa, Tokyo. While Sensoji is better known for the Kaminarimon Gates (Thunder Gates), the pagoda, especially at night, offers a beautiful example of Japanese architecture. It should be pointed out, though, that the pagoda along with all but one of the buildings on the grounds, are reconstructions since the original buildings were destroyed in the war.
This picture was rotated slightly and cropped. I used in-camera noise reduction since it was a long exposure. The shutter speed was actualy 10 seconds but there was no entry for that on the form. As with most of my shots, I used a tripod. |

Yes, this is a nice shot. The colour of the lit pgoda is very good, and you've isolated the subject from it's surroundings very well - not so easy to do at Asakusa!
However, my main concern is that you left it too late to take this picture. And the result is that the background is too dark and this 'depresses' the whole picture. I think that by taking this earlier in the evening, you would have had a lighter sky which would have given the whole picture some real energy.
Perfect cropping and a lovely shot ,afraid I can't find much wrong with it. Thanks
Very nice.
