The banks of Meguro River in Tokyo are lined with flowering cherry trees. These are spectacular in spring each year.
All of the local shops pay a little to put the shop name on these lanterns that hang from the trees. The pink side says Meguro River Cherry Blossom Festival, and the white side is Beniya Book Store.

The fuzzy zone on the right bottom is a bit distracting: did you apply a digital filter behind your copyright layer?
I'm not sure what you mean. If it's the blurred blossom above and to the left of my copyright, then that is because the wind was blowing, moving parts of the tree. The only filter used was Unsharp Mask to sharpen a little after resizing to upload to TrekEarth.

I think this is beautiful. Great colours and a nice blue sky in the background. The moving blossoms are a shame but it's not the end of the world. More distracting is the TV antenna and satellite dish in the centre at the bottom - should be possible to clone that out though.
Anyway, I like it and I look forward to seeing this in the spring.

Hi Martin. The colours of the lantern nicely complement the other colours in this image. I wonder why you didnt use a faster speed to overcome the movement in the tree branches though - you seem to have plenty of aperture to play with. I was hoping to catch the start of the cherry blossom season in Tokyo this weekend when the weathermen previously precited it would start tomorrow, 18 March, but as you know they have now changed their prediction to 21 March and I shall be gone by then. Such a pity because I had been looking forward to photographing the cherry blossoms myself. Cheers . . . David
