Kyoto - Higashiyama - Temple grounds of Kiyomizudera

The picture is taken on the platform of the Kiyomizudera temple and shows the three-storied Koyasu Pagoda in a beautiful coloured spring landscape.

It’s just a 5 minute walk from the main temple through its garden to the pagoda and from there you have an equally beautiful view of the temple (for a pic of the temple see one of my previous posts).

Information from:

This delightful three-story pagoda on the southern slope facing the Hondō (= main temple of Kiyomizudera) was constructed about the same time as the Hondō.
The Senjū Kannon enshrined here, called Koyasu Kannon – Kannon who protects children and childbirth – has always had a great following.
Although its unclear when this cult began, it is said that Emperor Shomu (reigned 724-749) and his consort Empress Komyo (701-760) came here to pray for the safe delivery of their children.
