A fantastic wild life shot. I have seen these macaques on a documentary in NGC years ago, so it is wonderful to see them again on TE. If I remember correctly these pools are hot springs and that keeps them warm in freezing temperatures.
Good timing to capture an affectionate moment between mother and child. Excellent sharpness and colors. Thanks for sharing.

You should have kept this photo for Mother's Day... :-p))
This is a "subject" that I would like to photograph and I think that you are extremely lucky to have been able to get close and personal with these famous snow monkeys. Great moment with a sense of intimacy.
Did you bring your swimsuit?... :-p))
Wishing you a happy New Year!

greetings to you from Stockholm!.. :)
You posted so many wonderful photos here that I am really at a loss which one I like better - all of them! so I'll comment on the latest photo, to be fair :)
This photo is so different from all the other photos of festivals, of colourful national, traditional costumes.. here we see a touching scene of a loving tender Mom and her baby - which you captured perfectly. One can look at it for long!
Happy New Year 2014! :-) I wish you creativity, happiness, peace and health!

This is a very touching moment and wonderful to see. The shallow DOF concentrates everything on the mother and baby.
Best wishes, Ann

You have a fine series of this interesting animal. Great close composition here that gives us a full appreciation of the monkeys' features and wet clumpy fur. Excellent timing as well to capture this tender moment, that is beautifully emphasized by a warm glow of light on the crown of the mother's head.
rigoletto (33751) 2014-01-13 7:27
