This photograph is taken at the Chōshi fishing port which is on the northeast part of Chiba Prefecture in autumn of six years ago. Choshi is a town facing the Pacific Ocean which is in 100km within the circle from Tokyo, and is located in the easternmost tip in Kanto Plain. As main industries, it is the town developed centering on soy sauce brewing industry, a fishing, and bare ground vegetables. Especially a fishing has the leading fishing port in the country. When I arrived at a fishing port, the auction of the fish has finished and the tuna which attached the red number was easily placed on the floor of a fish market. After a while, the fish broker stacked it and carried to the track. The main fish landed by this fishing port are a sardine, mackerel, a horse mackerel, a Pacific saury, a tuna, etc. Especially, a sardine and mackerel are proud of the No.1 amount of landing of the country. The truck which loaded the loading platform with the Pacific saury like a mountain had parked to the street where was faced to the fishing market.

Interesting picture about that famous fish.
A lot of discussions and polemic about the exaggerated consumption of that fish.
I wonder to see fishes on the ground, when you know the price of such a piece, you could expect a jewel case to present them ;o)
Good idea to give additional pictures to present the environment.
Have a nice day,

Technically a very good photo, Mikio, the subject though, is a diff. matter.
DOF along the wall is fine, with the wet floor it had added a special texture to the picture.
Workers are a bit high on pic. space, but added a human and dynamic scale to the whole.
Have a nice weekend,

A truly rewarding shot here, great colours and lighting with the valuable Tunas occupying the fg so strongly providing a pleasant balance of composition and lead into the scene reflecting the energy of the wet market, the essence of local flavour and the fishy smell of course. A wonderful place abundance of photographic opportunities for sure. Well spotted and excellently executed shot Well done. Congrats
