Kaze no bon #1, a photo from Ishikawa, Chubu

Photographer's Note

This shot was taken last year. This is not from "Awa Dance", quite similar but slightly different in apperance, the shape of hat and motions and so on.
Yesterday I got phone call from a member of this dance comitttee and I was invited to come and take shots this year too. This dance is a seasonal event for Autumn in Japan.

This photo is remarkable, with these hats heart shape overthrown. Light highlights shapes, clothing and colors against the dark background. Congratulations.

Hello Takero,
These ladies are very graceful, like most ladies shown in your festival shots. What makes them different is their heart shaped hats covering nearly all of their faces. Their pink gowns look very refined on the dark background. A very attractive photo.

this is a marvellous composition. the similar position and expression of the figures is wonderful. i love the colours of their dresses, and the dark blue background provides a wonderful contrast. the light in the picture is beautiful and you have managed it perfectly.

Three women with their faces hidden under straw hats. Beautiful pink dress. Girls dance, dance to the very beautiful. Black is a great color for the background of bright pink silhouettes. Perfect image quality.

A visual delight! Hearth shaped hats with red ribbons accompanied with powder pink dresses with a hint lemon green and the parliament blue background. They all make a lovely composition.

Just outstanding, Takero - the repetition of form, movement, and DOF all combine to almost give the impression that this is one woman moving forward with a ghostly trail, like some kind of stop motion. The focus on the hat of the woman in front is amazing - every reed is visible, and the texture jumps out at you. Beautifully done, as always.

Hi Takero, The comitteees of all festivals should call you and ask for photos. In miniature it looked like a flower. Amazing hats like hearts. Wonderful view.

a wonderful composition that captures a lovely moment in the elegant choreography, the graceful movement and superb costumes of the three dancers. I like very much the lighting and the soft colours and contrasts against the dark backdrop. There is an appealing sense of mystery due to the hidden faces that makes us concentrate on the repetitive forms and movements. I am back from my weekend hike.
This is a nice picture playing with the repetitive patterrns of the ladies, their garments and the hats. The way the faces are hidden by the hats makes this shot so special.

very impressive and highest quality as usually in your gallery.
I like the repeated motif of the dancer, they see quite similar and the shallow depth of the field creates an interesting effect here. Very original clothes again.
