Photographer's Note

The hot spring is comfortable not only for a human being but also for a monkey. This monkey falls into a doze with good feeling without any caution. When we see this expression, we can see that the root of a human being is same as a monkey. I tried to check the temperature of the hot spring. I judged the temperature is too cold for a human being.

this your series on Japanese macaques is wonderful.They have expressions so human that it's difficult don't smile looking at them.This is of pure pleasure, almost ecstatic.Really very nice!

The almost human face with a very contented expression is very well caught indeed. Beautiful exposure and colours. The DOF works well so that the focus is firmly on the monkey in the FG.

Hi Takero,

These snow monkeys have been made famous with the movie Baraka, and your photo proposes a very good depiction of the atmosphere that seems to reign in this quiet place.

I'm amazed to see how close you can actually get to them, as I thought they were somehow protected from proximity with visitors.

I like the contrast of colour between their warm grey hair, their reddish face and the coldish blue background.

Nagano is on my list of places I want to see one day and your image confirms my wish.

Certainly my favorite, among your recent shots of the same series. This one is a jewel, with a lovely relaxed expression of the monkey, in an angel sleep, looking so pure and innocent. It seems to have put some make-up on the eyelids... it is surprisingly charming. I love the contraste of the light pink of the face and the grey, voluptuous fur. A diva! The depth of field is an extra advantage to give to its silhouette all the majesty it deserves.

what an amusing scene :) Very lovely monkey! they really are like humans! Excellent capture, interesting composition and very good DOF. What makes the money so curious is the contrast between the colour of its face and the colour of its hair!
