One year this year was looked back upon and seen for itself. I feel that it was brandished all the year round under the influence of tsunami and the nuclear power plant disaster accompanying the tsunami in this March. After the earthquake disaster occurred, nine months or more have passed. Although rubble processing has not been settled yet even now, it is reported that the low-temperature stop of a nuclear reactor was settled. However, people who still live in a makeshift house or have fled in the another prefecture also hear many. Moreover, the person engaged in the industry of agricultural products or a fishing was subject to the influence of radioactivity, and the life base was lost. And, a severe winter comes around. The tax increase which not only a disaster victim but all people turn to revival, and the price increase of electric cost will be prepared. Help has received the warm encouragement and support from a volunteer or overseas after an earthquake disaster. Also easily, the safety myth of the nuclear reactor collapsed. Removal of radiation soil and abandonment of the nuclear reactor are told that it takes back 50 year over. As for myself, I was powerless besides contributing. I think that I must support in a certain form from now on. This photograph is not a beautiful photograph specially. This is one of the situation of the town(Ishinomaki) before tsunami, and taken in October, last year. The private house is calmly built in along Kitakami river. A left end building is visible to a warehouse. The boat was at anchor on an one-boat riverbank.

Hi dear Mikio. An image with a sombre light that befits the words in your note and the despair that the local people must still feel. Yesterday I had Japanese guests at my home, one of whom had to abandon his farm because of radiation. He has given up hope of returning to the region and is now looking to settle in Tasmania. All the best to you in 2012. Klaudio.

This is moody atmospheric and the whole feeling of the picture well taken given the condition. The composition and exposure are very well controlled to display the real situation on slight hazy afternoon. But the boat is something there to trigger the eyes as strong focal but I feel that, this adds to the emotional impact of the picture. Excellent additional image too. Well done
Happy New Year
