These are the Oshin Koshin Falls just outside Shiretoko in Hokkaido. "Oshin Koshin" in the Ainu language means "Man and Woman". As you can see the falls are largely seperated into two, a thick-set male on the left, and a slender female on the right.
This is two shots taken vertically with my EOS 10D and stitched together. I actually took a bunch of photos here with my film camera, an EOS 100. I did this as I try to avoid stitching photos if possible, and with the 17mm lens on the EOS 100, you get the full 17mm. I used Fujichrome Velvia RVP ISO 50 film, which I usually find creates amazing shots. However, this was the first time I'd done this since upgrading my 10D from the D30. I must say, the results with the 10D in RAW mode were much better than the traditional film camera. A sad fact, but I'm of happy that digital SLRs have advanced this far.

Very nice pic. Great text as well. I like the feeling of water running with the prolonged time of exposure. Good job.

Your exposure is perfect to get that nice water flow; a nice blue sky in the upper left would have been better but this doesn't look bad at all. Actually I'm quite impressed because I've been here and at the time I didn't feel it photogenic enough to take anything beyond an "I was here" snapshot. This place will always remind me of the lady in pink.

love the shot, Martin! gives me a sense of calm inspite of being such a motion. i wish some humna figure was present to give me an idea of how tall the falls are...great capture!
