Kilroy Was Here Photo

Photographer’s Note

This the 4th from the Kawaguchiko visit.
I took the picture of the statue, and then of the statue with the red leaves over its head, but couldnt get it. All I got was the eyes and the nose and the leaves. It reminded me of the Graffiti 'Kilroy Was Here' . I mean no disrespect to the gentleman whose statue this is, but found it quite funny and the name suitable for the picture.

good leaves here, but I would of loved to see the whole or more of the statue though

Hi Dinyar. With all due respect to the gentleman being portrayed - I think the framing you made here is hilarious :-) Fun idea, and when making the judgment call between the red "roof" of leaves and the head, I would probably have arrived at the same result as you did. Nice colors and good use of semi-shallow DOF that avoids a frame that would be too busy with botanical details. Well done. Another thing that brought me here is the title, it is also the name of a 1983 album by the band "Styx".

At fist, your title made me fear that this was another of those numerous graffiti photos, without any real purpose besides the scribbling on a wall, somewhere (though some images may nonetheless carry a distinctive aesthetic style, thanks to the eye of the photographer!). But it definitely is not the case!
I'm amazed by how you managed to give a tangible sense of perspective layers here, Dinyar. And I fully agree on what Norbert wrote before... even if my musical references never included Styx! ;-)
