Ginkgo fall in Tokyo Photo

Photographer’s Note

A typical Ginkgo fall in Tokyo.

This shot was taken near the Imperial palace. The roads were all lined with Ginkgo trees, typical shaped, with magnificent yellow and gold fall color display.

Ginkgo is a sacred tree to the Japanese. Besided medicinal uses, it is believed to have spiritual value.
The Tokyo City corporation uses the Ginkgo leaf as its emblem.

Ginkgo is also a living fossil to scientists, and has survived quite a few million years, untouched by changes of evolution.

I took this shot from near ground level on the footpath to get a clear picture of the fallen leaves.

Sorry for the sky, but we had overcast conditions.

Good one. Nice note. I must have walked past this plance 1000s of times in the last 6 years, but when I see through your picture it looks familiar but different.
Nicely taken. The note is very informative.
I didnt know about these leaves.

A perspectiva a baixa, as cores, as folhas no chão, a personagem a esquerda, não falta nada a esta imagem. Otima composição Arnab.

You have captured the road nicely..with the
leves falling on it...
it would have been better if you could manage
to capture the image without the person in the
front..

Nice autumn street scene. The low point of view and the long tree boulevard is adding much interest. The 2 people up front add perspective and more interest. Overall good composition and colors.Well seen and captured!

This is lovely Arnab. Somehow the overcast seems to add just the kind of lighting this composition needs, to show the line of trees and its autumn colors. By the way Arnab, this Ginkgo, is it the same as Gingko Biloba?

Beautiful shot, Arnab. I like the low angle that you have here and the perspective is excellent. Nicely framed with the 'gold' and green leaves filling the opposite corners. Well done.
