The suns rays broke through the cloud as we waited for the fiery sunset that never happened. This was taken from the Hoso-oka Viewpoint, near the Kushiro Shitsugen train station on the eastern side of the marsh.
The contrast between the bright part of the sky and the marsh was very harsh. I used a gradual ND filter to lessen the gap, but the ground is still very dark. I quite like the streaks of light the rivers produce as they wind across the marsh though.

martin interesting lighting effect that unfortunately is not transposed to the ground , I liked the rays and I think you could try just with the RGB curves tool select below the escarpment , I've had a go in psp and because the line to the plateau is so defined you will find that much of the foreground detail can be brought out without looking over processed.

I believe too that ground is too dark. I quickly tried with photoshop and used a gradient mask to select the ground and leave sky as is, then slightly lightened using the curve tool. unfortunately you do not allow workshops so I can't post the result...

i agree with jerome you can adjust in the photoshop...the contrast and brightness of you photo.but it is a nice shot ha!
