Silhouette in Orange Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is a water bus landing stage in Tokyo. I tried to take a pic of the silhouette of a double drawbridge and a crane in the orange sky, but the result was not best. The departure time did not match well with the time of sunset like my previous post.

If you visit Tokyo in winter, come to also Toyosu to see this futuristic water bus at 16:30, where is located less than ten minutes by metro from Ginza.

I was not aware of water-buses in Tokyo...my ignorance! Superb light both natural & artificial which highlights the futuristic waterbus.

Hello Hisashi,

Nice composition with the crane drawing its dark lines in the sunset sky. It is well equilibrated with the boat bus in the opposite corner.
Should be interesting to do a tour in it.

fantastic photo, I like a lot how the dark silhouettes of the crane and bridge that look like some intricate mechanical creature contrast with the beautiful gradient sky, the result feels very futuristic and urban, exactly what I like in city images. excellent work, my compliments.

wow! what a picture! Very good composition!
This very urbanistic modern landscape looks so unusual (due to the colours and the dark silhouettes - especially the crane - standing out clearly against the beautiful gradient sky). As if some strange gigantic creatures are going to conquer the city... they came up to the canal, and are about to step over it... just one more step - and they are here! :)

Oh I remember having seen this waterbus when I was on the boat to Odaiba, nice dusk image where the surroundings fit to the futuristic aspect of the boat.

I am a landscaper and I have always felt that the cranes, antennas and other elements of modernism, distort any scenario. But I must say your picture on the contrary, because the shapes are quite different and original, opposite the beautiful sky.

You know very well handle the light and shadows, in a perfect frame. Excellent.

very nice the snapshot of the open double drawbridge with the cover cruise boat to enter in the water bus station.I like the subdued light, with the sun still painting pastoral colours in the sky, makes this a memorable shot.Well done.

amazing. he lghts, the silhouetes all concur to create a magnificent composition. The bridge lines lead the viewer's eye to the crane and the to the rest of the image. I like the glittering water with its delicate riples.
