Photographer’s Note
Here is the site of the Battle of Okutsubakidai, during the Warring States period. Okutsubakidai Castle used to stand in that field, but it was completely burned down after the battle.
The field is now farmed for rice, though it seems a lot of it is kept wild, perhaps to preserve the area.
On the edge of the site, by the side of the road, is a large sign that details the battle and the history of this site.
I'm sorry that I can't give any more details on the history. I promise to add any more information if I find anything online. All I know is what I could understand on the Japanese sign, and what I was told by a tutor in Japanese Military History at my university.
Japan is full of history. Even a simple rice field could have once had a castle on it or been the site of a battle.
