Photographer's Note

The snow came late last year, which allowed me access to the top of the mountain until way into December. Iwaki faces the sea of Japan along the Tsugaru coastline, none of which is visible on a day like this one. In the winter it gets hard snowfall from the East Asian Winter Monsoon, and pockets of this snowfall still remain deep into the summer when temperatures are touching the thirties.

I can't read what it says on the sign, but this image for me resembles a kind of grave in the middle of nowhere. It's not a grave though, but the environment really does look desolate and conducive to death.

Sharpening in ps, no cropping.
