Photographer’s Note
I used to wander all over Misawa looking for pictures. I found a facility for raising pigs - lots of pigs! Here the man is slopping out some food for the porkers. I later found a another, more open, pig facility loaded with huge rats that you could capture by hand. My friends and I would capture a few, take them back to the barracks and have rat races down the passageway in the barracks. Not all the barracks residents were amused at our stupid antics.

That guy in the back is just amazing.
This is a wonderful shot of life, and you can smell that place through this picture.

B/W is definitely the right thing here, Thomas, as it really adds to the mood of early-20th-century manual labor (though 1960 doesn't actually qualify...) The men's body language is great, too.
