Iya Valley is one of the most scenic spots in Western Japan.

Oboke Gorge is an 8 km stretch in Iya Valley. This picture provides a view in the middle of the 8 km valley. I took the picture on the edge of the river bank next to some house’s backyard similar to the condition as you can see cross from the river. We took the advantage of driving by ourselves tried to find the best spot for pictures.

The water level was at its lowest during winter time.

PS: the camera time was still Los Angeles time. The local time should be at noon in Dec. 27, 2005.

Hi Wes
Yeah, this is pretty a scenic spot, with those houses situated along the mountain and a bridge across the river.
We don't have such scenis in Penang not Malaysia.
You know Wes, I found your image, especially the houses in good sharpness but not the mountains. Why?

Hi Wes! Very good capture of a rural Japanese place - a good break from all the Japanese city photos. The place doesn't look like Japan at 1st glance. Looks like a peaceful and clean village. I just wish the sky was blue. rgds.

Great picture with very good details and sharpness. Love the way you captured the village and the surrounding. Nice peaceful place with the river curving around between the mountains.
Well done Wes and thank you for sharing.

Hi Wes,
A well composed shot with good clarity. I like the POV looking up the little valley. The river has pleasing tones and hues. The foreground slice of wild grass nicely frames and enhances. A good view of both the little village and the landscape beyond the bridge. Very well done.

Bonsoir Wes,

Well Wes this is a lovely site to see. The mountians remind me of BC. Too bad about the weather being cloudy. But a nice scene indeed!

wes, nice pov. The bridge helps to the scene and the houses too. Excellent day to take a picture. Nice theme
Sergio

Hi Wes. Good job including the grass tops in front of you. The light wasn't much of a friend with the colors but it's still not too shabby. No shortage of depth though. Good work Wes.

Hi Wes

Good landscape from Japan. I like the cyan color of the water contrasting with the red hills. Good pov & perspective. Tfs!

Hi Wes,
Great picture with very good details and sharpness, a pity of the few water in the river! I think can see the small bridge with red handrail crossing the river. Excellent depth again!
Nice job!
Best regards,
John.

Hi Wes,
A pleasant view along the curved shape of the river, the village and the bridge are a good focussing point in your composition.
Greetings,
Hermann

Hi Wes, this is a beautiful scene with the mountains framing it to either side. I like the town clinging to the office cliff. It adds interest and scale to the picture.

Well composed image with the river to lead our eye into the frame. I like the inclusion of the yellow grasses in the foreground. This bridge is less intrusive in the scenery than the blue one.
