Photographer’s Note
This picture was taken early in a morning in Takamatsu Castle. I am impressed by the neat and clean garden in the park. Another picture of the garden with a different viewing angle is shown in WS.

Classic composition which works very well with this Japanese scene. The repeated circular objects (stones, hedge on the left and trees on the right) gives this a unity of appearance, while the line of the stone path and hedges divide the frame and provide a sense of direction. Excellent shot!

One thing that impresses me about this photo is the nice low angle showing these stones as the main feature. These stones look very natural too which is hard to imitate by the brick companies. The natural look is very appealing and the gardens immaculate! Thanks for sharing and I will see you in a couple weeks Wes. I am headed up north of Vancouver to hike in some wonderful Alpine country. I hope to bring back some wonderful photos of the Whistler area...the home of the 2010 Winter Olympics! So Cheers Wes...keep shooting!!

Bonjour mon ami Wes,

Hi Wes.
As Cormac told us, maybe a little bit classical composition but I like the POV and how you saw the elements of the picture.
My compliments.

Tha Japanese gardens are famous for their beauty. A very good perspective of one garden.
I like here the light too, only the sky is little more bright.

Hi Wes,
I think it would be hard to chose between the two, the light on the trees is a real focal point in the WS, but this one shows a bit of the castle and a more attractive stone pattern. Both are very nice...Pat

I like both photos Wes. The stepping stones make excellent lead-in lines. There is also an attractive light on some of the trees making them stand out from the rest.

Hi Wes, A good perspective of this very tidy garden, which i like to see. This is a larger scale than some and those large stepping stones are spectacular in colour and shape the way they are placed. Colours have shown up well. Murray.

Hi Wes - I like the patterns created (and suggested) by the diverging & converging stone paths. the viewpoint is good for this, and the early morning light is really nice too (providing good colours).

Hi Wes,
both views of this place are great, especially with the beautiful lighting. And in this I like the combination of nature and architecture. The pov you used is perfect as well. My only criticism has to be the white out sky... TFS.

Hi Wes,
Your perspective could not be better. I like the way you have used the walkway stones here as the focal point and the graphism. The fine lighting on the trees to the right enhances. An intriguing shot, well thought out and executed.

Hola Wes.
Very good scene of the garden of this well known castle, the stones give your shot a nice perspective and i found interesting the way it slowly disappears in the bg. You played very well with the shadows and light.
Very good shot, well done.

Hi Wes.
Lovely winter lights you caught in the frame. We rarely have this style in our garden any longer, hmmm.. our land is too small to be devided to thie big population, haha. Still in rural area, you see Japanese garden in ordinary houses plots. But it costs to keep it in shape always.
Good positioning with the trees and lights and the stone pavements. Thanks for sharing.

I would have expected the stones from such a place to be small and white (maybe a stupid idea !?). Whatever, I find that path attracting and I wish I could be there.

Hi Wes,
Beautiful Japanese atmosphere in this Japanese garden. As always in this gardens a strong geometric patterns, here with flagstones. Often also with water.

Hello Wes,
nice compo of this beautiful Japanese garden. Like the rock paths leading us through the photo. Great colours and sharpnesse on a photo with great interesting details and shapes caused by the way this garden was architectured.
Well done.

Hi Wes,
Beautiful lines in this composition!
Besudea I like the early morning lighting a lot, when the rising sun hits parts of the garden...
Well framed, good details... The couple of red flowers is a bonus!

A bit dark... but you have captured a beautiful light on the trees the right. This looks typical Japanese to me.
