Street Parade in Nagasaki Photo

Photographer’s Note

A street procession in Urakami, the outer northern suburb of Nagasaki decimated by the atomic bomb on 9 th August, 1945. Later in the evening, there were fireworks. I had no idea what this festival was, but it was lively & colourful.

An intriguing shot Chris, one wonders what the festival was about. Guess it's not something relating to any old traditions given what they are wearing. Good POV, nice capture.

Olá Chris, a good documentary shot of this procession. The decorations are quite interesting in a boat shape, but it's also strange the clothes that don't seem proper for the event, but in Japan there are a lot of intriguing things, comparing with the ocidental culture. Good capture.

A detailed and colorful scene from the streets of Nagasaki. The festival activities and colors make an interesting contrast to the typically busy background setting of a Japanese city.

Hi Chris - a good POV to catch this ceremony, or festival, actually you leave me curious about it...! Interesting mix of this scene (which I would expect to go on in a temple or similar location) and the urban context. And good colors too. Regards, Daniel

A good daily life photo. But perhaps a more frontal photo, perhaps being closer to them or even with black and white could give very interesting results.

Hello!
This is the "Shoro-Nagashi", Chris. It's a traditional memorial ceremony in Nagasaki. On August 15, spirit who died during a year is brought on a "ship" by the family.

It's a clear and sharp picture. Thanks for sharing!
