Photographer’s Note
An outdoor sculpture near the Fukuoka Yahoo Dome (which looks like an indoor baseball stadium: I may post a shot later). I liked the striking gold & blue colour palette here. Fukuoka is on the Japanese island of Kyushu. I needed to renew my Korean work visa recently.
I also liked the juxtapositioning of the hawk (often a symbol of war) & the peace sign. Here's a wide angled view: This is a link to TrekLens

Hi Chris,
nice to see you back. What a nice sculpture with the peace sign. During the 70ies we used to make that when we said hi ;) I like your perspective. Nice backgroung with the blue sky.

Hi Chris,
strong impression in that combination, good angle. The contrasts are excellent, the surface of the sculpture also. Not knowing enough about Japanese culture, is that a peace sign there? I know it as Victory, but I also know that there are different meanings over the world.

Hello Chris,
Amazing!
The sculpture is unusual, and the image is well exposed which may not have been so easy concidering the shiny surface...
And there were no way I got the point with the bird unless you explained (I'm still note sure I really did that, hehehe)...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Chris,
A high impact shot, with superb lighting and good contrast. I like the close-up view, where every line and angle in the sculpture is visible. You are right about the juxtapositioning of the hawk and peace sign; that alone carries a punch and a powerful message. Tasteful cropping here to present the dominant part of the sculpture. Well executed.

Hi Chris. I am right away impressed with the straight-up shooting angle and the colors. The image quality is as good as any modern DSLR. You couldn't ask for a better or more stunning backdrop to the statue than the blue sky you had. Have a great weekend!

Hi Chris,
The POV, the light and the combination of the colours and their saturation is very punchy. I like also the game of light on the various surfaces of the gigantic hand.
I thought that the hand like that was a sign of victory...

Hi Chris. You are right about the colours, wonderful contrast. The hand looks almost surreal in this shot. Good POV and camera angle emphasizes the height. Nice work and thanks for sharing.

Hi Chris,
Very imposing sculpture ... the vertical format fits the orientation nicely. I agree the hawk gives a good symbolic contrast. However, the peace 'V' sign takes a different meaning when presented the other way around ... possibly that is why they placed the hawk. Anyway, well seen and captured. Well done! tfs

An excellent composition of this striking monument. I like the upwards pov that makes good use of the blue sky as a backdrop to the gold and silver tones. Very good tones and clarity.

Hello Chris,
Excellent note accompanying the puzzling work of art. I agree with you that the hawk is a bird of prey, and one that I might not take as a peace symbol. In that sense there is an oxymoron in this metaphor, akin to a "straw-built castle."
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Chris,
An interesting shot with excellent control of the various tonal qualities. I like the contrast with the hawk almost making the "V" sign with its wings. The saturation brings out the qualities of the sculpture beautifully. Attractive shot!!
Regards and a nice day.

That is strange. Usually it is a dove that is associated to peace. But, different cultures have different meanings. The clarity and sharpness of your picture is absolutely superb. Well done.
