Taken in Wakayama prefecture this is a picture taken on the Kumano Pilgrimage trail (a World Heritage site). The waterfall in the background is Japan's highest (Nachi no Taki) and this scene is an easy one to take. The weather was very hazy that day so this picture is lacking in colour/impact but I think it gives a good feeling of the place.

Moody, and atmospheric place.
Wish the weather wasn't so hazy .. and a smaller f .. like f/22 so that background would not be so diffuse .. still a thoughtful image.

Too bad about the haze, but that is our world. It is astonishing to see the waterfall against the beautiful architecture. Such drama. Agree with John's comment about the f stop but I can tell from your intro that the scene is the message.

This is a nice top view of roof temples of japan. Their subordinate style to nature, as opposed to western and Islamic structures, is based on far east philosophy of being in harmony with nature. The influence of nature and the environment in the east is quite strong.
