Photographer’s Note

I took this picture in a Himure-hachimangu Shinto shrine. There is Himure-hachimangu in the corner of the old city of Omihachiman-City. A lantern was displayed in this Shinto shrine, and the preparations for festival were performed.

I visited this town on August 14. It is just about time when many Japanese take a short vacation on that day. August 15 is called Bon. Various events of the Buddhism are performed in Bon.
Bon-Odori is one of those events, too. (Bon-Odori is dance)
This dance in the temple and the Shinto shrine of neighborhood is done in nighttime.
I think that the lantern of the picture is used for this purpose.
