The history of Lords from Ii clan still is alive in the memories of people of Hikone. Count Naoyoshi Ii, a scion of the clan, was the mayor of Hikone city from 1953 to 1989 and made effort to the preservation of cultural properties in the city.
And today....a cat also wears a red helmet of Ii clan....
This is Hikonyan, the official mascot of the 400th Anniversary of Hikone castle. He(?) is loved by many children (and some adults). Today the feudalism seems an episode in the distant past....

Somehow cheesy, isn't it. For me it's a strange handling of history ... and I think for you too. Where is the reference to history here. But it's all the same here, commerce doesn't know any good taste ... An interesting and somehow important picture!
