Photographer’s Note
At the entrance of all Shirnes in Japan you'll find the purification trough like the one in the picture, take one of the ladles provided, fill it with fresh water and rinse both hands. Then transfer some water into your cupped hand, rinse your mouth and spit the water beside the fountain. You are not supposed to transfer the water directly from the ladle into your mouth or swallow the water. Some visitors skip the mouth rinsing part or the purification ritual.

Great spontaneous moment captured on film. I love the soft, natural earth tones in the photo, but they're quite well balanced between light and dark as well. Nice focused photo, which is difficult sometimes when getting a shot of a subject this close up. Great composition!!

Hi Flavia,
This is just the kind of photo that stands out among all the thumbprints. An excellent composition of mainly green and blue colours. Good graphism!
Kind regards

Hello Flavia -
Very simple and straight forward, I like it. I really like the contrast between the green bamboo, the wooden ladle, and the water. Well seen and presented.
Thank you for sharing.

hi Flavia
When I see this photo, it reminds me to what I see in the deep jungles of Borneo Highlands and I would like to share with you here.
The tribal villagers of Bidayuh normally live in the highlands of the jungle and where bamboo is in great abundance and stream water is constantly available due to tropical rainforest climate in Borneo.
Along most of the jungle trails where the villagers walk on foot daily to the farms or next community, there is usually found bamboo pipe sliced like this one and installed near the stream to provide water. This photo has very similar pictorial.
I would say the villagers drink as well as use it for cleaning - the stream water flowing through the nozzle of the bamboo pipe.
I ponder : this scene is in Japan where the society is very modernised and highly educated. And whereas deep in Borneo jungle, the scene is seldom noticed by outside people and the society is traditionally primitive and without much education except perhaps certain minority with basic education.
You have captured a nice photo and this a fine TE post to share.
tfs, bill

Olá Flavia,
belíssima aproximação. Posso ouvir o som tranquilizante da água escorrendo. Acho que sua foto iria bem em algum folder de spa ou algo do gênero :)) Belo trabalho!
Abraço,
Carlos
