Kamo River is the first-grade river with 33 km in full length with Yodogawa basin system which flows through eastern Kyoto from north to south. It is joined with the Takano River in front of the Kamo Ōhashi(bridge). It is a river which has cherished capital culture for 1000 years, and it is still in a big city, clarity is maintained, and it is loved by many people as a place of recreation and relaxation. The twelve bridges are constructed from Kamo Ōhashi to downstream, and these connect from east to west of city area. Also in it, Shijō-Ōhashi connects typical shopping quarter of Shijō Kawaramachi in the west side and Gion in the east side, and people's wave is prosperous continuously. This photograph is taken towards the direction of Shijō-Ōhashi from Gojō-Ōhashi in evening.

This is a nice view of the city and the river and a fine composition. The few persons walking along the river on each side create a pleasant and quiet atmosphere.

Good view of the cityscape along the river. I like the lights just about beginning to shine in the industrial setups by the the side of the river. Good choice of B&W, as I don't think there will be lot of colors on this frame. The pedestrians along the river bank adds life to the composition. Thanks for sharing a nice photo.

I like the composition in this photo. The river provides good leading lines to the bridge in the distance that acts as a focal point. I think you did well to present this in B&W.

The river is elegantly curving in the picture here. An interesting cityscape on the other side and a few people on each side to provide life. A good B&W format.

it's cold winter capture in greyish day and the unpromising weather but I like the effect and the fact that it does look like a quiet rather gloomy river scene without much activity. A well captured and thoughtful, I particularly like your composition providing a much more visually interesting details and focus sweeping the eyes all the way into the distant. Good tonal contrast with those figures liven the shot tremendously, Great work. Congrats

B&W format enhanced details and balanced the light over the artificial banks of the river, Mikio.
Well chosen this format and fine DOF and the clarity gave good view of town houses.

I like very much the long, wide and slightly curving perspective of this deep and attractive view. It's great how you brought the city so high in the frame, giving ample space to the foreground. I also love how clear the textures and details are amid the soft and homogeneous grey tones. The details that are either darker or brighter stand out wonderfully. Everything is excellently integrated in your composition, the atmosphere has a mesmerizing moodiness, so effectively conveyed also by the title you chose. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,

I was longer time without internet access (hiking in Swiss mountains) and so I missed many of your excellent photos.
I like this view of river and town buildings. Monochrome captures the mood of this scene much more than color could. You have created a really strong composition with great light, excellently framed in landscape format. Well done.

Great poetic title for a fine bl/w capture. The view itself isn't that poetic, actually, but the combination of picture and titls works miracles. I also like the presence of the few people walking there, tempting to imagine their stories...

nice this version of the image as looks like to come from the past.
I like the creative depth as perspective too with the few people to walk in its both waterfronts.

Your monochrome view of Kyoto and Kamo River appear much older than 2007, and provide a classical feel to the riverfront.
I live near Sacramento, California and our rivers are considered our treasures. Unlike Southern California we keep our rivers as wild and natural as possible with no concrete enclosures.
