Great shot Norbert! I love rainy days and I am praying that rain starts pouring in one of these weekends to hit the street. In the last days, rain covered the entire week but on weekends sun always shines... Your composition is amazing and the shiny colors really make this scene. I would like to see it also in b&w. I am sure it would be great. Really like this one a lot, mainly because of the inclusion of that pair of happy women holding their white umbrellas. Thanks

PS. I returned to make a b&w workshop. I really like this one Norbert.

Great shot, until i read your note I would have thought it done from a tripod. I too like the rainey day photos with the associated glare and reflections and the eposure is very good for auto and the noise is very low as well. It is really helpful to see the camera settings like this, thanks.

Splendid everyday scene rendered in that romantic, hyper-real style of yours which is quite distinctive. Thes Nikon colors erally rock, eh? (The lat remark being my way of scoffing at the sheer nonsense and balderdash that greeted my two attempts with teh Nikon D200 so far...)

Norbert-san kon nichi wa,
I see you're highly motivating yourself these days as departure comes closer, can you imagine how I envy you ??? Did you work out your itinerary already ?
There's a nice early evening mood in this one, no blue hour due to the rainy weather but with pleasant lights glow. The wet conditions also made the pavement shine, something I'm enjoying always more. I'm also impressed by the DoF @ f/3.5. Alltogether a nice street shot.

These two elegant umbrella carriers add a nice point of interest to this street scene. The balance of natural and artificial light is attractive and I particularly like the reflections of the light on the pavement. A well taken opportunity of an everyday life scene.

Wonderful light in this shot, very warm and inviting, and you also timed it so you got the artificial lighting and the sky light well balanced. As for the Japanese laughing at a tourist taking pictures, I guess that's only fair because over the years the Japanese tourists have given us much cause for amusement, with their picture taking antics!

It is like a reguar and pretty night shot with wet pavements! Only the umbrellas tell you it is raining. Everything else looks bright, clean and clear. A really good shot!

Hi Norbert, like in your other Japan rainy shots you managed again to let it work for you. Due to the reflections the rain adds lots of atmosphere. The profound depth takes us deep in the shot and the position of the slightly amused women is spot on. Lovely one.

schönes farbenfrohes Abendbild aus Japan. Die regennasse Straße erhöht noch den Glanz dieses sehr effektvollen Bildes. Kompliment auch für die gestochene Schärfe trotz fehlendem Stativ. Das Bild lebt auch von der großen Tiefe, von den lächelnden Frauen mit den weißen Schirmen ... Ein sehr schönes Schnappschuss!

A warm atmosphere due tpo the orange tones, and a nice combination with the gray of a rainy day, before it becomes dark.. As usual you also offer us a nice couple coming in our direction for an even prettier composition. I also appreciate the reflections left on the

This is a perfectly captured evening street with its whole magic and charm.
In spite of the rain the photo looks really joyful and is fantastic.
The reflections on the wet street adds glamour and special character.
I am not sure with the right side of the photo...maybe I would try to cropp it a bit to cncentrate more on the street itself and not the food...I am hungry, I'm sorry:D
In spite of my mentioned possible cropping I love this photo and I think it is special...besides the quality makes it a winner.

Hi Norbert,

The more I do photography, the more I appreciate images that are taken when the light is neither day or night. This is a fine exemple of this. The image has a superb aray of lights and colors and for hand held shot, it has so much sahrpness. I really enjoy the addition of the young ladies ;o) in the foreground. This a really beautifull photograph that I enjoy looking at.

Here I am taken by the seamlessness and the warm hues all over the shot, Norbert. Very nice lights, almost from a movie--dark clouds and rain have nothing to do with this shot, it is so full of colours and lights! Very nicely and expertly taken,

The 1/15, f/3.5 and ISO 200 really sucked in a wonderful array of red colors and turned the umbrellas pinkish. And what an incredible DOF with that seetings. Surely surprising. The composition with the two gigling ladies walking against you and the street in the background is quite interesting.

Lovely, lovely photo. I didn't even imagine it turns out to be this beautiful in an rainy evening. Hmm, I just have left a comment on another rainy day shot, I think it looks quite beautiful on rainy day evening so I should try it in a shot oneday. You were on a good day because the district on sunny day is usually stuffed with crowds and you couldn't take this photo on a such day.

Great shot! I really like the warm colors and the how the lights are reflected in the wet street.
I used to walk around in Kobe when I lived in Japan, so this really brings back memories.
