| The end of summer / start of autumn in Japan is often celebrated by numerous thanksgiving events(for a bountiful harvest) across the country. In this particular harvest festival, (Hyogo Prefecture, Kakogawa City) men lift up a 1.5 ton mini shrine. They bring this on top of a hill near a temple to pray. I took this shot of some of the men lifting a shrine (there are about 15 of them). You can just imagine how heavy it could've been. |
