The flowers in this picture are "Sakura", which means cherry blossom in Japanese. "Sakura" is the national flower of Japan and every year, for a bout a week, the whole country gets filled with these pinkish-white flowers... It is a custom to have groups of friends gathering under these trees and have drinking parties.
This picture was taken in Kyoto. I had just gotten to Japan at the time and I was told by a friend to go check it out for this being a big part of the Japanese culture. I must say that I saw one of the most beautiful sceneries in my life. For people who are planning on going to Japan, I highly recommend going there during the cherry blossom season... |
