Photographer’s Note
I couldnt resist but to post this one for my scav hunt, but tomorrow I will post you a pic of the port at night.
Well, I dont know if you can see it, but the middle wooden panel looks very sad, so I took it.
Well, I know the edges are dark but I just wanted to capture atmosphere and the wooden panels were near a window.
As you can see the Old and the new wooden panels, the one in the middle has curves and it isnt flat which was made in the Edo period, which was about 400 years ago and more, but as you can see the wooden tiles on the right it is completely flat, these were fitted to replace the old and rotting ones.
I just find the curved shape ones to be vey interesting than the flat panels
what do you think?
I hope you like it
tomorrow will be more exciting

at first sight i thought it was a piece of sculpture of a sad face. my culture would oblige me to look for references in religion and i am glad this is not the case.
great work of light here, Daniel.

Hola Dani:
very nice, I have seen in other pics. a big piece of black which is meaningless and totally a symbol of lack of info (also good for the compression algorithm and to save bandwidth on the network).
But Here I appreciate it to balance the pic. as you did.
Nice.
I correct myself! REALLY nice!

Beautifully delicate low key study Daniel.
I was always told to avoid large area of black at the boarders of prints but in this case it works well although could perhaps be cropped a touch.
Avery fine image

I do really like it, great textures and details. I kinda wish it was surrounded my black (maybe you could burn around the main planck?), or if it was taken as portrait pic and the light disappeared below the bottom of the frame... This is a small thing, but it nags me a little when looking at the pic.

A fascinating textural study, Dan, and very interesting to be able to compare the wooden panels of such different age. The older one definitely looks more interesting and seems to have more "character". Wonderful management of light, well captured.

Very simple but great image! I love the textures and the glow in the boards. Also like how the rough textures contrasts with the overall smoothness. The left and top shade is an excelent detail.
Full of mystery.

LOVE IT! I remember as a child looking for the hidden faces in wooden doors, floors, anywhere there might be a hidden face watching you. One of the faces happen to be on the back of a bathroom door...so you could imagine why I always looked for that one! :-)
You did a wonderful job of capturing the right light and even with the darkness of the wood, the light landed right for your shot.
