Photographer’s Note
Why SANBA in Japan? I cannot explain the reason clearly, but SAMBA carnivals have now become one of the most famous seasonal event of summer in Japan.
Above all, ASAKUSA SAMBA carnival is the most famous and crowded one, the number of audiences are around 500 thousands, so much crowded. Some Te friends here said thier image toward Japanese ladies changed from these photos. They thought that Japanese ladies are shy, modesty and retiring but the ladies on these photos are contary, I agree with these opinions. Not only my friends but also I am surprised and struck dumb with astonishment. Surely Japanese ladies have changed but not all of cource.

Dear Takero,
there are ladies AND ladies in every country! Of course the image changes as people do change with the time and cultural changes... and as life goes by!
I like this "provocation" :) It raises the mood! Very good capture!
My notion about the Japanese was influenced, in many ways, by Japanese fairy-tales which I read in my childhood, by Murakami's novels, by Japanese movies (classical and modern) - and many more. In my opinion, each nation is multifaceted, but there is always a core of it - those traditions which, probably, will never stop existing! and this is good :)
Kind regards,
Elena
