8/18 Tsukiji fish market
Tsukiji fish market is the biggest wholesale fish and seafood market in the world and also one of the largest wholesale food markets of any kind.
Tsukiji handles more than 700,000 tonnes of produce a year worth about 600 bilions yen . More than 400 varieties of seafood, from tiny whitebait to enormous tuna worth millions of yen, are bought and sold there every day.
Until a few years ago, Tsukiji traders went about their business largely unnoticed, but the global sushi boom has turned the market into one of Tokyo's most popular tourist spots.
I was in Tsukiji last August but somebody told me two months ago the Tokyo city government announced it would be forbidden the entrance to the tourist from then on.

and My lovely Wikipedia!!!
In this picture you can see a few salarymen and salarywomen (if itís possible to use this word to appoint Japanese executive women) who are looking at frozen tunas. They probably work for the same company and they are considered their selves as a big family who works with pride for returning Japan to the first places of the world economy. Of course they make leisure activities together as singing in the karaoke, dinners company,... and why not, a visit to Tsukiji fish market!
I know itís a pity the shop assistant didnít appear entire on my picture. I was thinking about cropping the left side of the photo, but finally I didnítí decided to make it because I didnít want to ďloseĒ his laughing face.

I even can smell that fish.I think the smell at that market was horrible.
Gosh it looks disgusting.
Anyway it's interesting.

I risk to repeat myself : once again there're plenty of pictures in TE about tuna in the Tsukiji market, but once again you success to give originality to your view of this famous place. This juxtaposition of the dead tunas and these alive and laughing salary men and O.L. is simple but great.
On the other hand I'm not convinced - once gain ;) - by the lack of contrast of the picture. The tunas are white and the 5 friends wear black suits. I think that you should emphasized this contrast. I make a proposition with a WS. My version is without a doubt excessive but it's just for giving an idea of what I mean.
Have a nice evening,

Interesting scene, lovely play of contrasts between smiles, suits and dead tuna. I agree with Olrik's comment that the picture deserves some PP.

You show 2 interesting faces of Japan in one image, also 2 that do not seem to belong to the same business world but somehow they manage to meet in your picture, I like that !
Have a nice day JY
