Photographer’s Note
My friend, Tsutomu, pointed this out to me while on the train in Tokyo. I found it so amusing I just had to take a photo of it, so I could show people back home.
Ronald McDonald, mascot of fat-inducing McDonald's restaurants worldwide, doing ice skating?
Yes, that was what I thought.
The poster, which was hanging down from the ceiling on one of JR's Tokyo trains, is to advertise the Winter Olympics 2006. They were held in Turin this year, or 'Torino' as it seemed to be called on TV. My first assumption was that Torino was what the Japanese were calling it, but it was being called Torino by the BBC back here in the UK, too. I guess Torino is Italian for Turin.
It also advertises the previously mentioned fast-food sellers. Rather amusingly too, I think.
It seems to be their attempt to market their burgers and fries as something more healthy and even athletic, to their potential Japanese customers.
I have put this into the categories of 'Humorous' because it makes me chuckle, at least, being a silly image; into 'Transportation' as it was seen on a JR train; and into 'Event' because it relates to this year's Winter Olympics.

Technical:
Rotated image slightly to bring it straight.
I took this from an angle, below the poster which was hanging above me. Getting a perfectly straight image would have entailed holding up my arms up high for a very awkward shot. As it is a flat image already, though, I don't think it matters too much.
I then cropped the image to bring it tighter around the two skaters, and adjust levels. Despite being a photograph of a flat image, adjusting levels seemed to give it a little bit of 3D. Finally, I sharpened the image.
Regards,
Richard

A good control of speed, which gives a good result, very graphical. Colors are perfect as well.
All the best

Hi Richard,
It's a colourful and surprising shot. I see they are trying to change the image to more sporty.
Good POV, good timing. Just not quite sharp.
(I see you have asked how people find pictures in the forum. This I found by checking humorous category.)

Hi Richard,
I was hoping to find something to comment on in your collection of UK posts...I resorted to Japan instead...
There is something quite sinister about Ronald Macdonald and he seems to be getting more creepy as time goes by...
I think the title could be better to reflect your actual thinking behind the picture, though I can see why you found this image interesting and chose to post it.

Before looking at your note, I was about to ask you how you managed to take this picture.

Hello Richard,
not easy taking a picture of a picture but it sure lloks fine and funny! I've never seen such a thing, thanks for sharing that! You had a good eye to see it and a nice reflex of immortalizing it.

This is very hilarious. I like the note too. Your post processing makes this almost look like a live event. From the thumbnail especially it looks like ol' Ronald is actually on ice racing with Happy Meals in his belly. Thanks for sharing.
