Photographer's Note

"While Manhattan has many tall buildings and is known as a "vertical" metropolis, Tokyo has many small buildings, which have been crammed in and is viewed as a "horizontal" metropolis." (ref. Mori Building website)

The recent trends are to build tall buildings and a recent law has allowed apartment buildings to be built past 30 floors. This is due to improved earthquake proofing of the construction of these buildings.

Picture was taken from the New York Bar and Grill at the 53 floor of the Park Hyatt hotel.
