This photograph is taken in Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden located in Tokyo Shinjuku in spring of five years ago. This is the site which had a daimyo's(feudal lord) mansion in the Edo period firstly. It went into Meiji era and the Shinjuku vegetable Imperial Garden which the Department of the Imperial Household manages was established in 1879. Generally it is opened to the public after the World War II, and is loved as a national park of the Ministry of Environment jurisdiction now. Area is large as a park of the center of Tokyo in those with 58.3 ha. Inside a garden, there is a large greenhouse besides a Western garden, a Japanese garden and a children's playground. So, it serves as oasis left behind to the newly emerging city center in Shinjuku where a skyscraper stands close together. This time, a long winter finished and a Japanese apricot with the flower of white and pinkw was full bloom inside the garden.

What a relief from the hustle and bustle of the city this must be to the citizens. These parks of refuge in urban environments are breaths of fresh air. When I lived in Philadelphia, it boasted the largest metropolitan park in the world. Then some CA city bought area in the desert and called it a park and Philly had to change their claim to fame to "the largest metropolitan park within city limits."
Excellent work of art and documentation.

I very much like the colours of this garden and the nice shapes of the trees and bushes. There are so many fine tones of green and yellow and you have captured them very nicely with an excellent light management. A few persons provide a pleasant human presence.

This is a very beautiful garden with perfect maintenance of the trees and bushes. Some red colours brighten the image, otherwise all colours are very subdued and harmonic.

WOW, this is a very beautiful garden whose colours are reflected well in the water.
A nice contrast with the greenery is provided by the white and the pink blossoms.
Best regards, Paul

Green lungs within the urban jungle indeed a good breathing space as well! A soothing garden view illustrating the spring season at its best with its wonderful colours and the abundance of vegetation which render that serene feel brightened by the warm light filtering thru. Specks of red are indeed special boosting the effect nicely, a sort of appealing shot that really pleases you as much as I do, Well done, TFS
