Photographer's Note

This photograph is taken at Shibuya Park street located in Tokyo Shibuya. It is a loose slope of about 450m leading from Marui, Shibuya to Yoyogi Park. The circumference serves mainly as shopping quarter where fashion buildings, restaurants, a public facility, etc. are built and located in a line. I was walking along this Shibuya park passage toward Shibuya Station from Yoyogi Park. The sake of 7:00 a.m., there are a few figures in the passage. And, only the chain restaurant and the convenience store also ran on business along the passage. By the way, I found the interesting display to the show window of the ground floor of the store treating interior furniture, household articles, etc., when walking along the loose hill. The six numbers are showed in a line with both sides of the spread note of three set. The rightmost number repeats the operation which turns over a page by hand and counting up (0-9) the number. Do you think what is this? I was also fascinated by the visual motion of this display, and did not understand this time what it means. I went home and downloaded the taken photograph in the personal computer, and found the meaning at last from the photograph before and behind the same photographic subject. It is the following explanation. The two-digit number of a left note means the hour, two-digit number of middle means the minite and two-digit number of the right note means the second. So, today's lapsed time is expressed as the whole. Even so, the display which turns over a page by hand is visible to the tasteful idea which aimed at the vision effect. It is also interesting thay this display is no relation directly to selling merchandise. As for it, Shibuya seems to be conscious of the tendency of the dispatch base of youth culture.
