Photographer's Note
Sumo is a divine work based on Shintoism which is a religion peculiar to Japan. The man blessed with health and power does his best of the in the front of a shrine, and it is considered as the act which shows gods respect and gratitude. Therefore, etiquette is thought very much as important, and as part of that, a wrestler turns and does not put on except Mawashi(loincloth). The vestiges are looked at by the sumo match which is a present-day performance form. Moreover, the edge with the Imperial Household is deep from ancient times to the present age. For present-day sumo, two wreslers who fastened loincloth in the sumo ring 4.55m in diameter which was circular cooperate, and competes for victory and defeat. It becomes defeat, when it comes out from a sumo ring or it is reached the ground except a sole, or when a foul is performed. And, a sumo referee performs the judgment. Now, six places are performed in the city in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka in one year. A tour of local areas occurs in the intervals of a place, and a wrestler is also busy with it. In 15 continuous days, one place changes a partner and is performed. From 9:00 of a morning to around 6:00 of the evening, a sumo match program continues from the wrestler of the low rank in order to the wrestler of a higher rank. This photograph is taken before 10:00 a.m., and the wrestler of the beginning has fighted in the inside where a spectator is also sparse.

Hello Mikio,
This is a nice composition with well captured action. The wrestlers and the green referee are all well placed inside the ring, where the light brown colours enhance the focus on these three important participants. The light inside the hall is very good, and so is the sharpness, with just some natural blur on the fast moving nearest wrestler.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Mikio,
I remember very vividly my amazement when I first watched Sumo on tv many years ago. Although wrestling is popular in Greece, Sumo is a ritual and has an exotic allure. I like the way you have captured the motion of the wrestlers and the bright but soft lighting on the wrestling area. The spectators and referee in traditional costumes add great interest to the scene, their serious and concentrated faces are captivating. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day,
Ourania

Hi Mikio !!
This is a sport that is not understood in the western countries...... to much ceremony and very little action
however your photo is taken at the precise moment when one of the two is wrestlers is taking control.
Very neat view of the platform. I like this photo very much
Have a nice week end.

Hi Mikio
You really do bring out the best in that lens and body combo, action packed and a stunner of great gregarious sport. Fantastic to see and imho better for including the ref, the attention is focussed very well with just enough detail in the darkened out crowd without it being distracted from the fat guys. The hint of movement and power is fascinating indeed, this looks like you had the best seat in the house and your use of just the right shutter speed really works well. Action packed and brilliant work! Congrats
Warm regards
