This was taken just 3 years ago.
Now Sumo tormanet is opened in Tokyo so I remember this old stock. This is a traditional Japanese sport. But recently not so mcuh popular in Japan due to some reaons. But intersting and amazing for me and maybe TE friends.

This have to are a fantastic sport, but for very strong men.
Your 300mm lens makes excellent pictures.
Sharpness and clarity are perfect.

This is really such a strange sport as seen from occidental eyes
I dont know if this sport is practiced outside of Japan
A nice close up shot showing the fighters, the referee and the spectators
Expecting some more in this series

Hello Takero,
sumor is a fascinating sport, so different form all the disciplines known to the Western world. I wish I knew more about it, so feel free to write more details about it if you are familiar with it - I would gladly read up on the subject.
The photo is very masterly captured with all the emotions and movements. Everuthing seems to be ezotic in it for me, including the outfit of the judge :-)

The image is a little too reddish for me, (the green dress is not very green) but it's a detail as this image works fine here ! good composition and excellent expression of the left fighter (who has won to my mind !!)

Hello Takero,
Another good sports photo filled with action. You have as before captured the expressive faces of the participants and spectators very well. The traditionally dressed referee looks rather out of place but he adds fine colours.

Excellent action, a real stunner of great gregarious sport. You really do bring out the best in that lens and body combo. Fantastic to see and imho better for including the ref. the attention is focussed very well with just enough detail in the darkened out crowd to pick out expressions without it being distracted from the fat guys. The hint of movement and power is fascinating indeed, this looks like you had the best seat in the house and your use of just the right shutter speed really works well. Action packed and brilliant work! Congrats.

Hello Takero,

A well timed action shot from Japan's national sport. My daughter's mother-in-law who is Japanese watches Japanese television in the US, and I've seen Sumo wrestling performed on her TV. I will share this photo with her.

I always admire the strength of those who practice this culturally important sport, and I love the traditions that go with it. You have caught a really great moment of action here, the intense look of the wrestlers face, and the studious expression of the referee, with his great colors. Sad to hear it is not as popular as it once was, I wonder why that is?
