I consider this a companion shot to The Commute. Many of the salarymen in that scene are coming home from a place like this.
Although this photo is circa 1993, Japanese offices look much the same today. The computers are newer but desks are still crowded together, the workplace is drab and colorless and people are working overtime long into the night.
One thing has improved, though. In those days, smoking in the office was still not uncommon. Now it is the exception rather than the rule.

Almost as depressing as the casino in Macao in which I spent a couple of hours.
A good shot that gives us reason to appreciate the natural beauty of the world. It might have a bit of a green cast, but who really cares?
Maybe it's time for a theme. "The Downside of Life"....

Sounds much like an office in the UK Mike, things are not so very different, where space is at a premium, like in Japan or the UK I think they'll always try and pack as many people into one room as possible, only regulations stopping them taking it further, add in all the equipment, and the heat generated and it must make for very unpleasant conditions, good picture, one that makes us stop and think a bit.

I was about the add the same comment as Mike, just like an office in the UK and I suspect the world over.

A great commentary on office life.
