| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Harajuku is the teenage town of Tokyo, where all the cool young kids hang out. On a Sunday, the kids from the suburbs come to Harajuku to be someone else. These are kids who may be bullied, have few friends, or find life difficult where they live. But by coming here and dressing up, they can be someone else and be here noone knows them. They can forget all their worries and just kick back and make a show of themselves. Normally quiet kids now become flamboyant.
This girl caught my eye. She was clutching her teddy-bear close. She may have been dressed as a goth ('gothic lolita') at Harajuku, and putting on a facade of strength, but she was obviously still quiet and lonely and in need of a hug.
Short of a hug, I took a photo of her. |

Thats quite nice.
Its a shame that she blinked.
I like the rush of busy people around her while she is there looking lonely.
Interesting photo, but do you think the klishee of beeing "lonely" is right for the subject of Cosplay? Maybe you should have asked her to take a photo, so that she had a chance to pose, instead of taking a snapshot.
Harajuku and Cosplay is such a complex topic. I am looking forward to see more on that on TE.
Don't judge the poor kid. Hhahahaaaaa, I love this note. The picture is also very real.
