Photographer’s Note
This photo was taken at the Meiji Shrine in the Harajuku district of Tokyo during the SHICHIGOSAN festival. This is a festival for three and five year old boys and three, five and seven year old girls. Their parents take them to their local shrine dressed in their best to give thanks for the healthy growth so far and to pray for their future good fortunes. This photo won first place in a small contest in Japan but did not have very many entrants, so I wonder.I was using 200 speed film and the skys were overcast. It had just finished raining. I welcome all comments. Thanks

Shichigosan pictures will always be so tender. That's an example. Well seen and done. You are welcome to visit my Japanese album and others. Regards.

This is a great shot, simply because it's so cute in that she's kind of turning the tables on the regular photographers! It's a really neat shot and a lot of picture-taking going on...from the older persons at her, to her at them and you at her!
