With the last photograph, I posted the portrait of the little girl of Shichi-Go-San. This time, I post the photograph of the marriage ceremony currently held in Meiji Shrine on the same day. In present Japan, there looks like the mainstream that the couple carries out a marriage ceremony at a church, however there are also many couples who hold the wedding ceremony at a Shinto shrine. Probably, it is expression of liking to love the tradition of Japanese ancient times and to wear tradition clothes. Since this November 16 was a day of the lucky day (Taian), I saw that many marriage ceremonies were held in this shrine. It's considered that this couple finishes the ceremony in a main hall of shrine and set photograph with family/relative, and is considered to be the process which was moving only two persons' commemorative photo to the shrine courtyard. The formula cameraman of ceremony guided two persons, pointed to some poses and was taking the photograph. The groom and the bride were maintaining the distance of the fixed interval to the courtyard. The groom wears haori (short coat for formal kimono) and hakama (skirt for formal wear), and the bride wears pure white dress. The bride diverted the face horizontally, looking down a face. I do not understand this for whether it is the performance pose which it was instructed to her by the cameraman or it was the pose which came out from shyness naturally. After a while, the groom and bride changed to the pose to look straight at. Anyway, the bride's behavior was visible to the expression which has depth mentally for me.

This is the true mission of TE, Mikio, showing traditions from a different country.
Enlightening note written, and a pic. no-less intriguing.
Black backdrop's has not contrast well to the man gawn, but not the fault of the photographer about that given condition. Superb white contrast of the bride in her interesting dress, "pure" as said.

This is a beautiful and very stylish composition, as elegant as a plate of Japanese food. It is an original colour photo strongly dominated by back and white tones. I like it a lot. Thanks for sharing.

Whether it is acted out or natural, it yielded a wonderful photo. I really like the play between the light and the shade. Light management is skillful to portray both areas with detail. Congratulations and TFS!

Beautifully composed keeping most of the harsh lit away from her but using enough to see her expression.

That's lovely couple - a superb wedding shot and interesting write up - no doubt the couple would very pleased with this shot. You certainly have captured the spirit of the occasion full of tradition where their costumes really work against dark background, the bride in particular is grabbing our eyes in and strikingly stands out with the catch light. Her quick glance is so vital making this delightful. This is a special moment in their life and a moment to pause.... well worth it. Congrats
